Successful Grid Connection of Sinoma Energy Conservation’s Mombasa Project in Kenya
On 6 September 2026, the 10 MW (captive + waste heat) power station at the NCCL (Simba) Cement Plant in Kaloleni, Mombasa, Kenya achieved successful grid connection.

Undertaken by Sinoma Energy Conservation Ltd., the project serves Devki Group of Companies, a leading East African enterprise, and is situated within the Kaloleni Industrial Park in Mombasa. Throughout construction, our on-site team stayed true to the company’s mission and delivery commitments. Working hand in hand with the owner’s team, the team overcame obstacles and forged ahead in synergy, efficiently advancing the full workflow of construction, commissioning and acceptance, and ultimately delivering successful grid connection of the power station.
Having maintained a long-term presence in the Kenyan market, Sinoma Energy Conservation Ltd. and Devki Group of Companies have forged a partnership for win-win growth and delivered a series of benchmark energy projects. These include the 13.5 MW cement waste heat power station at NCCL (Imali), together with Phase I and Phase II of the 55 MW captive and waste heat power station for Devki Steel. The grid connection of the 10 MW power station at the Simba Cement Plant stands as a fresh milestone in the deep cooperation between the two parties, laying a solid groundwork for wider and deeper energy collaboration going forward.

Upon commissioning, the facility will provide stable, adequate and cost-effective power supply to the NCCL (Simba) Cement Plant. It will fundamentally resolve the core bottleneck restricting plant operations arising from power shortages and unreliable electricity supply across Kenya, supporting efficient, continuous and standardized operation of the cement production line. On one hand, the project will effectively reduce the plant’s energy consumption and power costs, greatly boosting its core market competitiveness. On the other hand, it will sustainably supply high-quality construction materials for Kenya’s infrastructure development and fuel steady growth of the local real economy.
In addition, adopting waste heat recovery technology, the project enables efficient energy recycling and embodies the vision of green and low-carbon development. It sets a high-quality example for industrial energy conservation and green transition in Kenya, spurring investment upgrades and industrial efficiency gains in the local energy sector, and showcasing Sinoma Energy Conservation’s technical prowess and the overseas social responsibility of China’s central SOE.
Every successful grid connection marks the end of one phase of hard work and the start of a new chapter. Moving forward, Sinoma Energy Conservation Ltd. will continue to expand its footprint in overseas markets, adhere to rigorous quality standards, deepen its engagement in green energy, and further strengthen China-Africa energy cooperation. Powered by robust technologies and high-quality engineering, the company will write a new story of cross-border win-win collaboration and green development.
